SAW

My introduction to the Saw franchise was seeing Saw the Musical with my brother. I almost didn't go, but we ended up driving 3 hours to a tiny black box theatre. I left pretty confused and a bit uncomfortable (not a great musical to watch with your 16 year old brother) but I was curious about Saw. That same day, I watched Saw 1 and 2 and watched the rest over the next few days.

Rating (in order): 1, 5, 6, 2, 3, 4, 3D, Jigsaw, 10, and Spiral

Favorite Characters: Adam Faulkner-Stanheight, Mark Hoffman, Lawrence Gordon, Peter Strahm

Favorite Trap: The Rack (I will be rewatching soon so this may change)

Part of the draw to Saw for me is the early 2000's aesthetic. I was born in 2004, so I grew up missing out on a lot of the technology. I love old phones so I get giddy every time they use one in the movies.

All the collages were made by me in canva!

Now onto the more rambl-y part. I usually don't love gore, so I was surprised by how much I loved these movies. I tend to have pretty atypical hyperfixations, so it's not exactly surprising that this became one.

John Kramer as a character is interesting to me. I have yet to go into the rabbithole of his inconsistent philosophy, but it doesn't escape me. John wants to play God, but he does it pretty poorly. He picks and chooses who dies based on his own philosophy, which is fickle as we see in Jigsaw when he saves Logan. He's willing to kill the innocent family members of his victims, but he spares the person who delayed his treatment (admittedly, by mistake, but still!).

My favorite characters of the series are by far Adam and Mark. Adam is a loser, so of course he's my type. I'm also very interested in Mark, even though he scares me. Costas is just so beautiful I can let the murderous sadist part go, although that is part of Mark's charm for me. I have a questionable taste in men.

I loooove to talk about Saw, so if you want to hear more, contact me!
